Can O Cyclops provides excellent nutritional value for small fish, such as the Biota Captive Bred Mandarin Fish. These preserved cyclopoid copepods are similar in appearance and size to live adult copepods that we sell at AlgaeBarn and they encourage a fantastic feeding response. By feeding Can O Cyclops routinely to an aquarium with active copepod predators, you can ease the demand and consumption of your live copepod populations.
One of the greatest features of Can O Cyclops stems from its shelf-life. An unopened can may sit on a shelf for over 3 years! To find the exact expiration date, look on the bottom of the can. Once opened, store Can O Cyclops with the lid in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Cant use a whole can in one week? Simply freeze a portion and thaw it when you are ready to use it. The convenient canned packaging and long shelf life ensuring that you always have a nutritious and enticing food source.
AlgaeBarn regularly feeds Can O Cyclops and Nano Brine to the Biota Captive Bred Mandarin fish at our facilities. This practice helps ensure that these mandarins will accept a readily available and storable dry food. We highly suggest that if you have any small fish, or if you have purchased a captive bred mandarin from us, that you try out Can O Cyclops.
Did you know that Mandarin fish feed in similar ways to a humming bird constantly eating all day. By supplementing their diet with prepared food at regular periods in the day, the mandarin fish can consume several big meals while constantly snacking on live copepods. This will help ensure that the mandarins are consuming a sufficient amount of calories to grow and develop.

I love this stuff, all my fish have been finicky about food.. everything else that was recommended to me, the TDO Chrome Boost, Sustainable Aquatics Dry Hatchery Diet, or a slightly bigger pellet food, all my critters, my Clownfish, Green Chromis, YellowTail Damsel, Bicolor Dottyback, and especially my Green Mandarin Dragonets. My fish would spit it out or just ignore all the other foods. My tank would stay cloudy, and my parameters were always out of wack with those foods. Since I switched mainly to Can O Cyclops, as well as copepods, and brine shrimp. The Can O Cyclops being my main source of food for them. My tank has become crystal clear, parameters are stable, and my fish all look healthier and happier. I recommend this item and any of the live foods that Algae Barn offers. I like the Ecopods and the 5280 pods. And dont forget to get the OceanMagik. I have some Red Ogo Macro in my tank for the copepods can hide out and breed as wells as other spots they can go. My experience with these products has vastly improved my saltwater aquarium quality.

S Sheldon Anderson Can O’Cyclops is saving our little mandarin!
Can O’Cyclops is saving our little mandarin! It’s the only alternative food that our mandarin will eat. Hard to keep on the bottom where mandarins like to eat. It likes to float in the water stream. If anybody comes up with any good ideas on how to get it to sink please post here.
