The White Knight Fryeri (Sciaenochromis fryeri White Knight) is a striking cichlid from Lake Malawi, known for its elegant white and blue coloration with a distinctive black spot near the eye. This species is hardy, relatively peaceful, and well-suited for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
White Knight Fryeris are omnivores and thrive on a balanced diet. They should be fed high-quality flakes or pellets along with a variety of frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and mysis shrimp. Feeding small portions multiple times a day helps maintain their health and vibrant coloration.
White Knight Fryeris are generally peaceful but can become territorial, particularly with their own species. They do best in a species-specific setup or with other non-aggressive Malawi cichlids of similar size and temperament. Providing plenty of rock formations and caves helps reduce aggression and creates a natural habitat for them.
Recommended Tank Mates:
Avoid housing them with aggressive Mbuna cichlids, as they may outcompete the White Knight Fryeri for food and territory.
A strong filtration system is essential to maintain clean water and stable conditions. Regular water testing and monitoring for stress or illness will help keep these fish healthy. A well-structured tank with hiding spaces will allow them to thrive and display their best colors.
